Real life.
Real mission.
Real disciples.

Mission Life Ministry makes disciples who make disciples — equipping pastors, elders, and ministry leaders across churches to live out the Great Commission and carry it on long after the workshop ends.

The heart of it

Making disciples who make disciples.

The Great Commission is the core of Mission Life Ministry. Not evangelism for its own sake — though the gospel is always the point — but the intentional, biblical work of teaching the Word in a way that reproduces.

When someone truly learns to follow Christ, they can help the next person learn and grow too. That's the whole aim: not a crowd that shows up, but disciples who make disciples, generation after generation.

"And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." — 2 Timothy 2:2

The approach

Teaching how to make disciples — not just preaching about it.

Plenty of speakers drop a word and run. Mission Life is built to do the opposite: to till the soil, plant the mindset shifts, and stay long enough that the saints are equipped to carry the work on their own. That's the elder's job — to equip the saints for the work of ministry — so the goal is never to be the one doing all the ministry. It's to train the people called to do it.

Train the trainer

Take a gifted Sunday school teacher and make them a small-group leader. Take the leaders you already have and move them to the next tier of what they're capable of.

Built for leaders

Pastors, elders, and ministry leaders — equipped to equip the saints around them, so the whole church learns to send its people out on mission.

Workshops that stick

Multi-day workshops and hands-on training, often on a recurring basis — with real next steps mapped out together before we're done.

The framework

The Disciple Journey

Discipleship isn't a class you graduate — it's a handoff. Each stage moves a little more of the responsibility from the leader to the disciple, until they're the one leading someone else. Here's the shape of it. We unpack the rest together in the workshop.

1

I do. You watch.

We start together, up close. You see disciple-making modeled in real life — not described from a stage.

and we talk
2

I do. You help.

You step in alongside. The work becomes shared, not just observed — first reps with someone beside you.

and we talk
3

We do. Together.

Side by side, carrying the work as partners. The confidence and the conviction start to take root.

and we talk
4

You do. I watch.

Now you lead. I'm there to encourage, sharpen, and send — but the ministry is yours to carry.

and we talk
5

You do. Someone else watches.

And now you're the one making disciples — and the journey begins all over again, this time in someone new.

and it starts again

You can trace this same arc right through the Gospels — Jesus with the Twelve (Luke 9), then the seventy-two (Luke 10), all the way to Acts 2, when thousands are added to the church. Multiplication was always the plan.

How we work together

Tailored to your ministry. Rooted in Scripture.

Nothing here is off-the-shelf. Every engagement is shaped around who you are and where God is taking you — always biblical, always specific to your church.

Step 01

We listen first

Before any direction, an honest intake conversation — questions about who you are, what's already happening, and where you're headed. Good counsel starts with understanding.

Step 02

We teach, tailored to you

A discipleship track built for your ministry and your environment. Always biblical, always zoned in on where you actually are — never a generic curriculum dropped on top of you.

Step 03

We stay for the follow-through

Follow-up and ongoing support as needed, so the equipping takes root and keeps reproducing long after the workshop is over.

Watch & listen

Hear the heart behind it.

A few messages from Stephen — the same conviction that shapes every workshop, preached from the pulpit.

Meet the founder

Stephen Splawn

Founder of Mission Life Ministry · Former Lead Pastor, First Northeast Baptist Church

Stephen is the founder of Mission Life Ministry and a pastor in Columbia, South Carolina. For four years he served as an evangelism strategist for the more than 2,000 churches of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, where his work centered on relational disciple-making — helping churches learn to reproduce disciples, not just gather crowds.

Then he took it from theory to the local church. As lead pastor of First Northeast Baptist Church, he spent six years building a culture of disciple-making — and both attendance and baptisms grew significantly every year of his leadership.

Before ministry, he spent years in the corporate world as an executive at Siemens, and studied mass communications and journalism at the University of South Carolina. That mix — strategist, communicator, pastor — is what shapes Mission Life Ministry: clear teaching, real relationships, and a plan a church can actually carry out.

"I don't want to be the guy who drops a word and runs. I'd rather till the soil, equip the saints, and see a ministry stronger than when we started."
